The Mexican Ministry of Economy launched an antidumping probe on imports of steel plates from Russia and Ukraine in response to the complaint filed by the country's integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mxico (Ahmsa).
The products involved in this case are steel plates containing 0.0008% of boron or more, with thicknesses of 4.75-10mm and exceeding 10mm, covering the period from January through December 2012.
In 2012, the imports of the mentioned product from Russia and Ukraine jumped by 323% to 80,000 tons.
